THE GREAT INTERVENTION

Hahaha. I laugh at myself for showing a great measure of ignorance.  Here I was in a meeting and I look around me and most people are barefooted on a tiled floor (just because of comfort), the first thing that runs through my head at that moment is the advice I have known all my life,'don't stand barefooted,  you stand the risk of getting pneumonia, your feet would become  very hard, it's not the best thing to do, it doesn't show manners..blah blah blah'. The list continues. So I decide to become superwoman,  at least tell those victims that they are not on a great path to good health. Fortunately for me,  my melancholic self nudges me and tells me,'Daniella, think carefully before you take that step because I don't see its relationship with pneumonia, the bacteria can't possibly travel through your feet or whatever explanation there is for that. Research about it and then you can confidently tell them'. Now, I thank God for His still small voice that advised Me. HALLELUYAH!
I have grown to love Google,  in fact I'm in love with Google because it has always been  my superman . Lol. My source of diverse opinions and Information!  And just because I love Google I typed,'is walking barefooted bad for your health?' into the search box and clicked the SEARCH button.
And my O my, I had puffed up a huge balloon of pride because I trusted my knowledge.  Hahaha .Every search result gradually punctured pin holes into my balloon of pride. This is what I call THE GREAT INTERVENTION!
So just for the benefit of us all (frankly,  so that I feel good about my ignorance . I made the effort to find knowledge,  didn't I? ***wide grin***) I want to share what I got.

The Surprising Health Benefits Of Going Barefoot

Remember the guy in college who went barefoot everywhere? He may have seemed eccentric, but it turns out he was on to something.

Walking barefoot, also known as "earthing," has gone from being a kooky counter-culture trend, to a scientifically-researched practice with a number of remarkable health advantages, such as increasing antioxidants, reducing inflammation, and improving sleep.

Earthing means walking barefoot on soil, grass or sand (meaning: any natural surface). So we’ll have to get off the sidewalk. Early studies are showing that the health benefits come from the relationship between our bodies and the electrons in the earth. The planet has its own natural charge, and we seem to do better when we’re in direct contact with it.

Why should you walk barefoot?

A review published in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health looked at a number of studies that highlight how drawing electrons from the earth improves health. In one, chronic pain patients using grounded carbon fiber mattresses slept better and experienced less pain.

Another study found that earthing changed the electrical activity in the brain, as measured by electroencephalograms. Still other research found that grounding benefitted skin conductivity, moderated heart rate variability, improved glucose regulation, reduced stress and boosted immunity.

One particularly compelling investigation, published in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, found that earthing increases the surface charge of red blood cells. As a result, the cells avoid clumping, which decreases blood viscosity. High viscosity is a significant factor in heart disease, which is why so many people take blood thinning aspirin each day to improve their heart health. Another study in the same journal found that earthing may help regulate both the endocrine and nervous systems

Hmmm, another interesting Discovery! According to Wikipedia,  people who walk barefooted have a lesser risk at osteoarthritis, flat feet , Athlete's foot and  a lot of other good health benefits.
So  next time, I vouch not to divulge information or even think of it unless I have concrete evidence. Have a great Weekend! CHEERS!
