My Dad

Disclaimer :Before you read this poem, kindly rid your mind of any knowledge you have of me and be warned that you'd  have no choice than to say,'aww, she is so sweet'. I try (giggles). I'm an angel, sent down from heaven, without wings. I'm modest about this though.

Oh  yeah, I'm aware not everyone is happy, inspired, hopeful or even woke up at the right side of his or her bed but let me assure you, that's life! A battle of inbalances. Just try to maximise the little you've got to put you in a better position.

My day has been full of inactivity, I can't blame myself but LEFT TO TELL BY IMMACULÉE ILIBAGIZA, a book on one of our book shelves, caught my eye. It's an interesting  read. I haven't even bothered to look into or  read about the genocide  in Rwanda so this is a good opportunity. I get to pretend I am in her shoes for some time, although  I'm glad I didn't experience  what she did. It must have been so terrible.

On the other side, I'm inspired. I'm happy I've got a hero in my house. I mean, he might not be so pleasant when it comes to discipline with his rantings and ravings but hey, I have come to appreciate  his efforts in our upbringing. Since, I came home for vacation,I cannot count the number of times I have pulled Eugenia (my little sister) aside to advise her to take all the scolding she recieves from our dad to heart during all his teaching sessions. He believes in the power of an educated mind. She is always in tears but now, she is toughening up by the minute and I am proud of that!
My childhood experiences  with the tutoring sessions from dad are far more 'worse' than what she is experiencing now. But I admire my dad alot,it took a while for me to see through  the tough training. But hey, meet our earthly superman

Daddy
Running in circles I have sought to understand you
And I appreciate now  that you are just you
A man as tough as steel
One who never dismisses the minutest  detail
we've got God to be thankful to.

I have tried to define your love for us
I'm afraid, it's too special
nothing can beat it
It's a strange kind of love
but it sees me soaring in the wings of a dove
Oh what inexplicable  love

You saw through the tears
oh well, I thought you couldn't see my fears
and to think you  are a porter
Moulding us so we do not falter
Thank you for discipline
Then, I thought it was torture
now, I see you sought to nurture
your precious seeds

Hard training
always made the battle easy
now we tattle with pride
Glad that we've gone through
hands made from steel
I love you, dad
you are unique in every sense of the word
you make my world
a better field
for great and sweet victory
thank you, Superman
