When I miss Geyhey, I mean.....

When I say I miss my alma mater, I mean I miss all those literary  night rehearsals and the main deal where Ama Asomaning-Adem  and many powerful ladies display  their talents. I miss all the poetry recitals and great display of talent. And i miss telling myself that i have to learn from them all.....Oh those days! My ambition was immeasurable. I thank God for Miss Wilberforce because she made me strive to become better. I miss my school-Wesley Girls High School

When I say I miss my school, I miss those sessions with Mrs Djokoto, either during morning assembly or family time, when she would give us quality advice about how we should set ourselves apart and not go with flow. Indeed, only dead fish go with the flow. I miss my daydreams  about how I wanted to be like her. For her command of English was impeccable  and her desire to see us become better people would burn her till she was exhausted giving us quality advice. Those days I used to pray to God to give me courage to go and talk to her during morning assembly. Wow, I never mustered enough courage. Lol. She won my complete admiration. A woman of intergrity!

When I say I miss school, I mean i miss repeating the school motto over and over again and vouching with every will that I had that I would live by the principles that the school motto taught me. LIVE PURE  SPEAK TRUE  RIGHT WRONG  FOLLOW THE KING.  These words would be etched forever  in my memory and heart! I was always a bag of strong emotions! Oh ME!

When I miss school, I mean i miss working very hard in class.  I miss my classmates tattling  that I studied  too much (I wondered if I did because  I still wasn't satisfied). But, as hard as it was to ignore them, I encouraged  myself that my dad and family were looking up to me and I just couldn't disappoint them. How I miss my strong-will

When I miss school, I mean I miss all the lessons I have learnt about rising up each time I fall and not wasting time nursing injuries I 'believe' I had during the fall. I miss my determination  against all odds to become a better person. I miss everyone who made me realise that! I have one particular  incident with a classmate that propelled me to strive for my best! I really miss school

When  I miss school, I mean I miss all the school hymns we sang. Oh wow,I miss Rosemond  taunting me that I was 'burning' all the songs. And always nudging when she thought I was doing that! Ah, what a blow it was to my confidence!  But I'm glad. And I miss all those times. From these hymns I learnt valuable lessons!

When I miss school, I mean I  miss admiring all those who stood on the stage to perform  during our entertainment sessions. I'm glad I had fun. Those dramas.....IN THE CHEST  OF A WOMAN and many others that left me astounded.

When I say I miss school, I don't mean I miss all the stress and how some seniors were so biased and gave some quiet people like me the most difficult  of working places and one of the meanest house prefects I have ever known! She made  school totally unbearable but I survived. I dont miss how tiring itwas to carry a bucket  of water from a very far place only to wake up the following day and the water was gone. Those were difficult  times. I was indeed a fighter ,never giving up and understanding  that my circumstances  were bound to change. Sometimes, I really thank God I left school although 4 years dragged and seemed like eternity.

But I really  miss school because  I learn alot of great values  I hope to keep forever. Long Live Wesley Girls' High School. Long live Ghana.
